Grower

This position can be structured to be a great opportunity for someone in search of an Internship.

The leading wholesale horticulture and landscape supply business in New England is looking for an annual and perennial GROWER. Prior horticultural, greenhouse, nursery or agricultural background is highly recommended.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Daily maintenance (watering, fertilizing and pest management) of crops, as well as monitoring and affecting the progress of plant growth in an effort to meet sales deadlines.

If you are energetic and enthusiastic, if you possess the initiative and drive to excel and if you enjoy learning as our company continues growing, Cavicchio’s is the place for you.

An aptitude for the computer, basic math skills and the ability to communicate in English and Spanish is a plus. Being available to work greater than 40 hours during peak business times and some weekends is a plus.

We are seeking an experienced individual for our full time year round opportunity of buying Annuals and Perennials.

Ideal Candidate will:

Have exceptional knowledge of annuals and perennials
Have prior experience buying annuals and perennials
Display proven buying success
Benefit from remarkable negotiating skills and business knowledge
Keep current on new plants and industry trends
Be well-informed of sources from where to purchase excellent quality plant material
Aspire to seek out the best plant material to ensure Cavicchio’s success
Proven success of maintaining successful relationships with Vendors
Locate and cultivate new vendors
Possess excellent organizational and time management skills
Think and react quickly to customer inquiries and requests
Exercise attention to detail
Step forward to travel for day or overnight buying / sourcing trips when needed
Contribute as a true team player
Be computer comfortable using the internet, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and be able to learn our customized version of MAS500
Work with sales staff to stay on top of customer requests

Landscape Supply Buyer

The successful candidate for this full time year round position will:

Have exceptional knowledge of landscape supplies and of landscape supply installation
Have prior experience in purchasing landscape supplies
Display proven buying success
Benefit from remarkable negotiating skills and business knowledge
Keep current on new products and industry trends
Be well-informed of sources from where to purchase excellent quality product
Aspire to seek out the highest quality product to ensure Cavicchio’s success
Proven success of maintaining successful relationships with Vendors
