Customer Service Specialist - Horticulture Products

Cavicchio Greenhouses, Inc. has an opportunity for a Customer Service Specialist. If you think you have the ability to keep our customers smiling with a cheery disposition and quick service, this job is for you. The environment is fast paced during the high seasons. You will be depended on for keeping the process moving, handle the monetary transaction of the sale and resolve any customer questions. You must also be eager to help in other departments when needed.
Hours: Full Time. Must be available to work Saturdays during the busy season.
Responsibilities:
  • Proactively greets the customer and asks how to be of assistance
  • Directs customers to additional resources of the farm
  • Works with sales team to build the customer order
  • Accurately completes monetary transaction with the customer
  • Handles difficult customer situations with empathy and self-control
  • Assists in other areas of the business as required. There are no boundaries when providing customer service
Qualifications:
  • Friendly, courteous demeanor
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office)
  • Cash register experience a plus
  • High School Graduate or GED
Valued Additional Skills:
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish/English)
  • Gardening or landscape experience a plus

Landscape Supply Sales Position

Responsibilities:
  • Follows-up with customer sales leads to cultivate new accounts. Builds relationships with new and existing customers
  • Sells from a large supply of inventory
  • Assists customers who are directed to Sales from Outdoor Customer Service
  • Accompanies the customer to select landscape materials as the customer moves through the process
  • Answers in-coming emails and calls from customers
  • Assists existing or new customers in the planning stages of their landscape plan based on budget, space, moisture conditions
  • Becomes a trusted advisor
  • Suggests inventory needs to buyers
Qualifications:
  • Strong working knowledge of landscape materials
  • Positive, action oriented attitude towards problems solving and satisfying customer needs
  • Basic business and math skills
  • Computer skills
Valued Additional Skills:
  • Experience in landscape construction
  • Knowledge of fertilizer, grass seed, landscape construction materials

Greenhouse Manager/Head Grower

Proven track record in crop growth manipulation strategies is a must as well as knowledge of pest and disease control strategies and careful monitoring of mechanical controls. Ability to manage and lead in the spirit of continuous learning will be the key to success.
Responsibilities:
  • Manages and coaches greenhouse grower staff to support seasonal plans
  • Monitors crop progress and inspects growing environment
  • Collaborates with production managers about cultural, varietal, and timing issues of crops
  • Insures all equipment associated with greenhouse production is in working order
  • Ensures all safety compliance regulations are adhered to by staff
  • Takes ownership of keeping up with industry technology, markets, regulations, new growing techniques
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience with ornamental plant production
  • 2+ years of experience in a managerial position
  • Standard Microsoft Office applications
  • Bachelor’s degree in horticulture of similar area of study
  • Proven experience with current pest control strategies and the addition of Biocontrols

Grower

As the leading wholesale horticulture and landscape supply business in New England, we are looking for an annual and perennial GROWER. Prior horticultural, greenhouse, nursery or agricultural background is recommended, but not required.
This position can be structured to be a great opportunity for someone in search of an Internship.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: daily maintenance (watering, fertilizing and pest management, including the application of natural enemy pest controls) of crops, as well as monitoring and affecting the progress of plant growth in an effort to meet sales deadlines.

The Assistant Buyer position will be apprenticing with a senior buyer and will learn to source high quality annuals, perennials, as well as decorative material for use in seasonal product offerings. Ability to build relationships and trust with the internal sales teams, buyers and vendors is a must. Being able conduct oneself in the spirit of continuous learning will be the key to success.
Responsibilities:
  • Assists the buyer with the development of a purchase plan
  • Maximizes the return on investment for all purchased material
  • Builds relationships with suppliers
  • Gathers information about price, quality and speed of delivery
  • Creates accurate purchase orders
  • Checks quality of material upon arrival
  • Analyzes data for use in forecasting and planning
Qualifications:

Data Entry – Inventory Management

Our Data Entry/Inventory Management position focuses on the vast array of horticultural products (e.g., annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs, decorative material) that are purchased from vendors or grown in-house creating a very large inventory of part numbers.

Being able to conduct oneself in the spirit of continuous learning will be the key to success.
Responsibilities:
  • Creates new item under the direction of the inventory manager
  • Replicates Bills of Material in the ERP System
  • Enters Purchase Orders based on Buyer data
  • Enters projections in the ERP System
  • Enters production in the ERP System
  • Enters the products received in the ERP System
  • Works 7:00am to 4:00pm and works Saturdays during busy seasons
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a data entry
  • Standard Microsoft Office applications with superior Microsoft Excel skills
  • Familiarity with large volume data entry
  • Good Math Skills
Valued Additional Skills:

Mechanic – Vehicles and Equipment

  • Do you have 4-6 years of experience as a shop mechanic?
  • Do you have strong mechanical, diesel and electrical skills?

Cavicchio Greenhouses, Inc. has a full time, year-round position for a shop mechanic. Working in this unique environment, you will have the opportunity to learn how to work on different types of equipment and machinery such as all sizes of vehicles, loaders, farm equipment and even golf carts. During the busy season, up-time for all equipment and vehicles is essential – so, there is never a dull moment.
A history of being able to collaborate with co-workers and shop manager a must.
Responsibilities:
  • Approaches mechanical, diesel and electrical problems with a consistent diagnostic process.
  • Presents the Shop Manager with data about the vehicle or equipment to plan a cost effective repair.
  • Follows safety and environmental procedures when approaching the work.
  • Tests out the working order of the repair
  • Uses computer skills to research vehicle information and shop communication.
  • Conducts routine and preventive maintenance.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience as shop mechanic
  • Tools, except for manufacturer-specific items
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Analytical Skills
  • Observation Skills
Valued Additional Skills:
  • Automotive technical or trade school degree
